silent Hill is coming to Dead By Daylight this June!

You'll be able to play as Heather and Red Pyramid Thing aka Pyramid Head in the new paid for DLC.

What's more if that you'll also be able to return to a new look Midwich Elementary School.

Pyramid Head and Heather are both customisable with Heather being able to wear Lisa Garlands nurse outfit.
The map will also contact hidden features and Easter Eggs that Silent Hill fans will enjoy.

To make this news even more exciting is that Akira Yamaoka himself has reworked the Dead By Daylight music and given it a brand new Silent Hill sound.

So we're not only getting a new Silent Hill (kinda) but we're also getting more DLC, Easter Eggs, the use of the original Red Pyramid Thing (with unique attacks not previously seen in the game) and Akira Yamaoka! All we need now is a full Silent Hill game all by itself.

After years of no Silent Hill game news, this is exciting even if it isn't a new entry in the franchise. Check out the trailer, character designs and 10 minutes of gameplay thanks to IGN below and let's all return to Silent Hill this June.

Masahiro Ito has been sharing details about various elements of Silent Hill via his Twitter account. The creature designer (amongst over roles) has been treating fans to various bits of info for the past couple of months now.

Ito revealed a concept image for a cancelled Silent Hill game in March of this year (2017) and has continued to share even more details with fans. Ito has shared details about Silent Hill many times before with Fans on Twitter but lately has been sharing much more info and images than usual.

Below are just some of the images and bits of info he has shared recently with hopefully much more to come!  Thank you Mr Ito for sharing this with us.

Masahiro Ito reveals additional details about Gecco's upcoming Red Pyramid Thing Statue

12/13/2015

Picture
In April Gecco revealed that two new Silent Hill 2 statues were on the way and would be released in 2016.

It was revealed that the first statue would once again be of the Red Pyramid Thing and this time would include the spear. The other statue is still being kept secret.

Fortunately I has a brief chat with Masahiro Ito himself through the Silent Hill Fans group on Facebook and I asked him a couple of questions about the upcoming releases.

Although only small bits of information was shared, it's exciting news either way. The first thing he revealed was that the spear will be much larger than what is seen in the games. The second is that this statue will reveal the very first concept for what is actually under the RPT's helmet!

I am highly curious to know what is under his helmet but at the same time the element of mystery is what adds to the overall sinister look he gives off. As we have seen with previous releases he appears to have a large, billowing, fleshy mass that hangs just below his helmet. As to what will be revealed when the statues are finally showcased we will just have to wait and see.

Are you curious to know what is under that huge helmet of his?

Silent Hill Pachinko Machine showcased in Japan

Picture
Konami has revealed a Silent Hill Pachinko machine at a recent press event in Japan.

The event included Nurse mannequins, dark rooms, boarded up windows and an arcade machine...

Yup! from the build up alone you would expect something bigger, something better but instead Konami have revealed that Silent Hill has been made into an Pachinko arcade machine.

From the information and images released it would appear the game is called 3.0 or Silent Hill 3.0.

A teaser and full trailer for the machine has been uploaded to youtube (see below) and a number of photos posted online.

Although this is somewhat of a downer with the fact Silent Hills has been cancelled (honestly guys it's cancelled, please let it go already) and the fact Konami's main focus appears to now be mobile gaming, i'm really not seeing this as a huge negative or even the direction Silent Hill is now going to head into (you've got to hold out for a new game right?).

We all know this isn't the first time Konami has released an arcade game for Silent Hill. Sure this is a slot machine and Silent Hill The Arcade was a first person shoot em up, so the differences are high but it's still an arcade game. The full trailer actually doesn't look too bad if you remove the entire arcade machine bits and stick to video only... sure the characters don't look as good as in SH2 but lets be real here, it's a slot machine, so Konami isn't really looking for amazing graphics.

As to whether this will be released outside of Japan is yet to be revealed but I won't be rushing out to my nearest arcade if it is.

Silent Hill 2, Red Pyramid Thing Figma Review

5/31/2015

Picture
At Winter Wonder Festival 2014 it was revealed that Max Factory would release two Silent Hill Figma figures. These would be distributed by Good Smile Company and be available worldwide.

At the time only the Red Pyramid Thing Figma had been physically revealed and although it wasn't finished it still looked amazing.

The second figure was revealed to be a Bubble Head Nurse making both Figma's coming from Silent Hill 2. The Red Pyramid Head Figma was released in April of this year (2015) and sold out almost everywhere.

Luckily I managed to get my hands on a pair of RPT's and I am highly impressed! They look incredible and are definitely a must for any Silent Hill fan.

As we all know similar looking statues were released by Gecco but being a statue, were not posable. With the Figma figures you can pose them in any pose you like, add his Great Knife to the mix and you've got one hell of a bad ass looking figure.

The Red Pyramid Thing Figma comes in red and black packaging with a large clear window where you can see the figure and some of his accessories. The sides and lids of the box all contain images of the RPT, with a collection of images of him in various poses on the back. All of these poses can be re-created easily yourself.

When opening the box you'll see that he comes with his famous (and awesome) Great Knife, a Spear, 4 pairs of different hands (5 if you include the pair already attached) a stand with support, small plastic bag to keep everything in (if you decide to chuck the box in the bin) and an additional neck piece. As well as a small leaflet with instructions.
The paint job and detail is outstanding and no small details seem to have been left out. The right side of his helmet has a small nail sticking out with the dent that we have seen so many times before also present on the front. His billowing fleshy mass underneath his helmet looks wet and somewhat sticky, this also has another nail stuck in it at the back.

One thing that did surprise me is that the bottom of his clothing is made from rubber, which makes adjusting his legs into the right position easy and simple to do. His clothing itself is dull, dirty and blood stained. Small details like his silver buckles and bloody boots really do show how much work has gone into making this look as good as possible.

His arms, legs and feet are fully jointed making it easy to bend and adjust them into the way you want him to look. You can also twist his helmet from side to side or back and forth.
The additional pairs of hands means you can have him holding his Great Knife, the Spear, both or nothing. When comparing this figure to the Gecco Statue of the RPT, I do like how easy it is to slot the weapons into his hands. One thing that worried me with the statues was that I was pushing a little too hard and would end up breaking his hand while trying to attach the Great Knife.

With the Figma, his hands are designed to allow easy insertion of his weapons and actually have a small amount of flexibility.

The additional neck piece has a small hole in the front. When attached you are able to place the spear into his throat (ouch) and recreate the double RPT battle directly from Silent Hill 2. Originally I intended to keep one of these sealed in the box and the other on display but temptation got the best of me and I had to see what it would look like.
All I need now is an awesome backdrop and i've got a scene from Silent Hill 2 in my living room...
The base comes with a clear support which can be adjusted. On the base the Figma logo is present and a small hole in the back allows you to attach the support which also fits into the back of the figure to ensure he isn't going to be falling over anytime soon. Although he can stand freely without the stand.

I purchased both of these from AmiAmi for ¥3800 which works out at around £20/$30 each. Good Smile Company plan on re-releasing him this October for those who missed out the first time.

You can pre-order him from AmiAmi, BigBadToyStore, Forbidden Planet or directly from Good Smile Company.

Gecco announce new Silent Hill statues are on the way

4/2/2015

Gecco have announced that more Silent Hill 2 statues are in the works and have revealed that one of these statues will be the "Red Pyramid Thing with the Great Spear".

An email I received this morning from Gecco themselves informed me that the two statues that are in the works are not quite ready to be revealed fully, as the prototypes are still yet to be completed.

We can expect two new statues from Gecco with the other yet to be revealed.

The Red Pyramid Thing statue will be 1/6 in scale and Masahiro Ito will once again be designing the package artwork.

The only reason this information was released before a prototype was even complete was due to a tweet being shared between Ito and the Gecco art director through Twitter. You can view this tween below.

The tweet translate to:

"Masahito Ito-San @ Adsk4 because me set the stage, I became a good thing to say! As Gecco new, and is preparing a 1/6 scale Statue of creature two-body than "Silent Hill 2". Was higher-requested "Sankakuatama-spear Ver", and the other piece is still secret. Masahiro Ito's full supervision!"

The second statue is still being kept a secret but I would love to see a human character, maybe James or Maria or even Angela.

With Angela being my favorite character i'm holding out it's her however I can't see this being the case.

Either way i'm excited and cannot wait to see these new statues when the prototypes are finally revealed. No release date has been announced but I'm guessing they will be available for pre-order towards the end of the year/early 2016.

Gecco have already released a total of 8 Silent Hill statues from both Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 along with a whole bunch of official T-shirts and Iphone cases. Images of these are below. I wonder if there will be any additional product releases to coincide with these statues?

What are you hoping the second statue will turn out to be?

Picture
According to magazine scans I stumbled across on EstatuasLimitedEdition.com it looks like Figma's Red Pyramid Thing is due for release in April 2015.

As you can see from the scans RPT looks fully possible and also comes with a spear, great knife and additional hands. He is also 20cm tall.

Red Pyramid Thing figure includes:
- Main figure
- Base
- Spear
- Additional Hand parts
- Head part for recreating scenes from the game

The magazine scan does show an image of a Bubble Head nurse but no release date is shown and the only real information is that she will be 20cm tall.

There has been no other news or even pictures of the Bubble Head Nurse figure that is also due to be released in the near future.

You can pre-order your very own Figma Red Pyramid Thing from these links:
Amiami priced at 3800 Yen
Big Bad Toy Storepriced at $59.99
Hobby Link Japan priced at 4222 Yen
Forbidden Planet priced at £54.99

Please note release dates may differ dependent on country release.

Will you be picking up a Red Pyramid Thing?

Figma showcased the Red Pyramid Thing figure at this summers Wonder festival 2014. As you can see from the images below he's looking pretty good!
No release date has yet been announced and from the looks of it no images of the Bubble Head Nurse have been released either.
I'm really hoping both are released this year!
You can keep up to date with all information on these figures via the official Figma Facebook page.

Gecco's Comic Con Exclusive Red Pyramid Thing Statue Review

3/9/2014

Picture
Last year (2013) Gecco announced two variants of their Bubble Head Nurse and Red Pyramid Thing statues. These two variants were available at the San Diego Comic Con (2013) and also via the ToyMunkey website. Both variants are limited to 1500 pieces.

Unfortunately for myself I was not able to attend Comic Con and I never ordered either statues from ToyMunkey studios. It wasn't until later into the year that customers began to notice that ToyMunkey were no longer answering emails or even sending out orders and thus the partnership with Gecco and ToyMunkey ended leaving a lot of customers out of pocket and without their orders.

I assumed it would be a very slim chance that I would be able to get my hands on the mannequin variant. Until Big Bad Toy Store had them in stock and so I grabbed one as quick as a could and I have to admit that once again I am impressed.

The mannequin variant has definitely replaced my liking for the original Lying Figure statue. Already being a huge fan of the mannequin figure, this was definitely a must!

The box art features the statue on the front with the nine square windows that allow you to look directly into the box (these nine squares mimic the nine save points in Silent Hill 2). Both sides of the box also contains sculptor and game information. The artwork on the back of the box features an image of the Red Pyramid Thing created by Masahiro Ito.

The Red Pyramid Thing statue itself is exactly the same as the original statue with the only difference being the Mannequin creature that he is holding. The whole thing is lightweight and made from PVC. The detail is once again superb and the Red Pyramid Thing really does look amazing.
Focusing on the Mannequin creature the paint job is extremely well done, the back of the mannequin is bloody and sore looking. It's legs are cracked and worn, small blood like specs are present and even the lines around where you would expect the feet and legs to connect are visible.

It's 'arms' are much more smooth and shiny than its legs, these look as if they are taken from a genuine mannequin and as we move closer to the main body of the creature you can see small holes that I would assume are meant to show where the 'arms' connect.

The back of the mannequin also has a small round button in its back which you can see in the pictures below.
The base of the statue is the same as its original design, its tiled and features a few loose tiles on top. I like the base more with this statue as the 'arms' of the mannequin are close to the loose titles which suggest while it was trying to break free it knocked the tiles up.
I also really like how the mannequin's body seems to wrap around the Red Pyramid Thing. It's 'arms' go underneath his body while one of its leg wraps itself around his side/back.

Overall the mannequin seems much larger in length than the Lying Figure variant.
One of the first things I noticed when opening the box was that the small card that is included with all Silent Hill Gecco figures is different. With the other three Silent Hill 2 statues the artwork included on the card was the same as the artwork on the back of the box. With the mannequin variant the artwork features the famous scene where the Red Pyramid Thing appears to rape a mannequin. The back of the contains once again contains information about the statue and it's distributors.

Out of all the Silent Hill 2 statues that Gecco have released I would say that this one is by far my favourite. Being a huge fan of the Mannequin creature had already made this a huge must for my collection and so to finally have it has made me very pleased indeed.

This statue is limited but still available at various online stores. You can purchase this statue from Amazon and Ebay however prices are rather high.
Big Bad Toy Store have the Mannequin statue up for pre-order, priced at $179

Game-Legends also have the Mannequin statue available for € 269.98
