The wait is finally over and Konami have revealed not one but four brand new Silent Hill games that will be released in the near future. Surprisingly Konami have revealed that Silent Hill 2 is getting the remake treatment!

Although I personally would have loved to have seen a remake of the original Silent Hill, this is still very exciting news and the trailer and screenshots released so far look amazing.

Konami didn't stop there though and also revealed another 3 games, a new film and even new merchandise too.

No release date has been revealed for any of the latest announcements however Silent Hill 2 has been confirmed to be a 12 month PS5 exclusive and will also see the return of Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito. The game will also be available on steam too.

silent Hill is coming to Dead By Daylight this June!

You'll be able to play as Heather and Red Pyramid Thing aka Pyramid Head in the new paid for DLC.

What's more if that you'll also be able to return to a new look Midwich Elementary School.

Pyramid Head and Heather are both customisable with Heather being able to wear Lisa Garlands nurse outfit.
The map will also contact hidden features and Easter Eggs that Silent Hill fans will enjoy.

To make this news even more exciting is that Akira Yamaoka himself has reworked the Dead By Daylight music and given it a brand new Silent Hill sound.

So we're not only getting a new Silent Hill (kinda) but we're also getting more DLC, Easter Eggs, the use of the original Red Pyramid Thing (with unique attacks not previously seen in the game) and Akira Yamaoka! All we need now is a full Silent Hill game all by itself.

After years of no Silent Hill game news, this is exciting even if it isn't a new entry in the franchise. Check out the trailer, character designs and 10 minutes of gameplay thanks to IGN below and let's all return to Silent Hill this June.

Mondo have announced today that the upcoming release of Silent Hill 2 on vinyl will be released March 6th.

Along with this Mondo will be releasing a Robbie the Rabbit pin and Pyramid Head pin. The vinly artwork has been created by Sara Deck and the music remastered by James Plotkin.

'Mondo, in conjunction with Konami, is proud to present the premiere vinyl pressing of the soundtrack to the Playstation 2 horror masterpiece: SILENT HILL 2.

SILENT HILL 2 is psychological horror by way of David Lynch, evoking the more surreal and supernatural elements of TWIN PEAKS while telling the story of one man's journey into a hell of his own creation. Like the geographical differences between the maps of the two games, musically SILENT HILL 2 feels like somewhere you've been before but mysteriously different and unique. It's haunting and beautiful at one moment, tense and spine-tingling the next. If SILENT HILL 1 is a frightful jump scare, SILENT HILL 2 will haunt you in your dreams for years to come.

Featuring all new artwork by Sara Deck. Remastered by James Plotkin and pressed on 2X 180 Gram Colored vinyl and also available on 180 Gram Black vinyl.'

Along with the SH2 vinyl, Mondo are also releasing two pins created by Sam Wolfe Connelly (who also designed the original Silent Hill vinyl artwork) which feature Robbie the Rabbit and Pyramid Head.

'Robbie the Rabbit (1.5" in height) and Pyramid Head Thing (1.5" in height). Both on a 2"x3" Backing.'

Both the vinyl and pins are due to ship late March 2019 and will be available 12 Noon March 6th CT Time (6pm UK time). The vinyl will be $35 and the pins $10 each.

As excited as I am for this release i'm a little disappointed to see that the design of the Nurse appears to be from Homecoming. Will you be grabbing anything from the new releases?

Masahiro Ito has been sharing details about various elements of Silent Hill via his Twitter account. The creature designer (amongst over roles) has been treating fans to various bits of info for the past couple of months now.

Ito revealed a concept image for a cancelled Silent Hill game in March of this year (2017) and has continued to share even more details with fans. Ito has shared details about Silent Hill many times before with Fans on Twitter but lately has been sharing much more info and images than usual.

Below are just some of the images and bits of info he has shared recently with hopefully much more to come!  Thank you Mr Ito for sharing this with us.

Creating Silent Hill, an interview with Masahiro Ito

2/2/2016

Picture
Picture
Masahiro Ito was the creature and background designer for the first three Silent Hill games as well as art director for Silent Hill 2 and 3.

An original member of Team Silent, Ito has continued to contributed to the Silent Hill Universe even after he finished working on the games. This includes cover art for the Silent Hill Zero soundtrack along with the 'White Hunter' comic that was included. Cover art for the Japanese release of Silent Hill Downpour and Homecoming (although Homecoming's release was later cancelled).  As well as this Ito has also designed a variant cover for issue 3 of the Dying Inside comics and also designed the Japanese exclusive comics Double Under Dusk and Cage of Cradle.

I managed to grab a very brief interview with Mr Ito during his busy schedule to ask a few questions with regards to Silent Hill and what he has planned for the future. Due to Ito being a very busy man the interview was quick but highly appreciated.

Out of the games that you have worked on, which game stands out the most for you and why?

It is a game when I have worked on in SCE from 2008 to 2010, but was not released. It's a Russian retro Sci-Fi horror action game.

Where do you find inspiration for your art and designs?

All of things what I have seen.

Did you want to work within the Horror genre before Silent Hill came along?

No, I didn't.

Would you like to work on another Silent Hill game in the future?

If I am given such a offer, I will accept it.

What was the first creature for Silent Hill that you designed?

It was "child monster" (Grey child) in North America version. If I remember correctly.

When designing the monsters for Silent Hill, was you given an idea to work from or did you come up with designs yourself?

I Came up with designs myself but a few of the monsters in first Silent Hill, Keiichiro Toyama, he requested me to design those monsters, which he imaged, like "child" and "incubus".
I didn't design all of the monsters in the first Silent Hill, in the first place. Naoko Sato and Keiichiro Toyama, they designed monsters in it too.

You have also worked on Silent Hill comics Double Under Dusk and Cage of Cradle. Would you like to work on another Silent Hill comic in the future?

If I am given such a offer, I will accept it.

Your book The 2nd Wild Pig was released in Japan, do you ever plan on releasing it outside of Japan? and do you think you will release another book in the future?

Yes, I have some plans like that.

Can you reveal any information about the upcoming statues that will be released by Gecco?

The statue will reveal the very first concept for what is actually under the RPT's helmet! About this, it's not to be able to remove his helmet but to get a glimpse of 'under the helmet' because removing his helmet is like a wet blanket.

Masahiro Ito reveals additional details about Gecco's upcoming Red Pyramid Thing Statue

12/13/2015

Picture
In April Gecco revealed that two new Silent Hill 2 statues were on the way and would be released in 2016.

It was revealed that the first statue would once again be of the Red Pyramid Thing and this time would include the spear. The other statue is still being kept secret.

Fortunately I has a brief chat with Masahiro Ito himself through the Silent Hill Fans group on Facebook and I asked him a couple of questions about the upcoming releases.

Although only small bits of information was shared, it's exciting news either way. The first thing he revealed was that the spear will be much larger than what is seen in the games. The second is that this statue will reveal the very first concept for what is actually under the RPT's helmet!

I am highly curious to know what is under his helmet but at the same time the element of mystery is what adds to the overall sinister look he gives off. As we have seen with previous releases he appears to have a large, billowing, fleshy mass that hangs just below his helmet. As to what will be revealed when the statues are finally showcased we will just have to wait and see.

Are you curious to know what is under that huge helmet of his?

Silent Hill 2, Red Pyramid Thing Figma Review

5/31/2015

Picture
At Winter Wonder Festival 2014 it was revealed that Max Factory would release two Silent Hill Figma figures. These would be distributed by Good Smile Company and be available worldwide.

At the time only the Red Pyramid Thing Figma had been physically revealed and although it wasn't finished it still looked amazing.

The second figure was revealed to be a Bubble Head Nurse making both Figma's coming from Silent Hill 2. The Red Pyramid Head Figma was released in April of this year (2015) and sold out almost everywhere.

Luckily I managed to get my hands on a pair of RPT's and I am highly impressed! They look incredible and are definitely a must for any Silent Hill fan.

As we all know similar looking statues were released by Gecco but being a statue, were not posable. With the Figma figures you can pose them in any pose you like, add his Great Knife to the mix and you've got one hell of a bad ass looking figure.

The Red Pyramid Thing Figma comes in red and black packaging with a large clear window where you can see the figure and some of his accessories. The sides and lids of the box all contain images of the RPT, with a collection of images of him in various poses on the back. All of these poses can be re-created easily yourself.

When opening the box you'll see that he comes with his famous (and awesome) Great Knife, a Spear, 4 pairs of different hands (5 if you include the pair already attached) a stand with support, small plastic bag to keep everything in (if you decide to chuck the box in the bin) and an additional neck piece. As well as a small leaflet with instructions.
The paint job and detail is outstanding and no small details seem to have been left out. The right side of his helmet has a small nail sticking out with the dent that we have seen so many times before also present on the front. His billowing fleshy mass underneath his helmet looks wet and somewhat sticky, this also has another nail stuck in it at the back.

One thing that did surprise me is that the bottom of his clothing is made from rubber, which makes adjusting his legs into the right position easy and simple to do. His clothing itself is dull, dirty and blood stained. Small details like his silver buckles and bloody boots really do show how much work has gone into making this look as good as possible.

His arms, legs and feet are fully jointed making it easy to bend and adjust them into the way you want him to look. You can also twist his helmet from side to side or back and forth.
The additional pairs of hands means you can have him holding his Great Knife, the Spear, both or nothing. When comparing this figure to the Gecco Statue of the RPT, I do like how easy it is to slot the weapons into his hands. One thing that worried me with the statues was that I was pushing a little too hard and would end up breaking his hand while trying to attach the Great Knife.

With the Figma, his hands are designed to allow easy insertion of his weapons and actually have a small amount of flexibility.

The additional neck piece has a small hole in the front. When attached you are able to place the spear into his throat (ouch) and recreate the double RPT battle directly from Silent Hill 2. Originally I intended to keep one of these sealed in the box and the other on display but temptation got the best of me and I had to see what it would look like.
All I need now is an awesome backdrop and i've got a scene from Silent Hill 2 in my living room...
The base comes with a clear support which can be adjusted. On the base the Figma logo is present and a small hole in the back allows you to attach the support which also fits into the back of the figure to ensure he isn't going to be falling over anytime soon. Although he can stand freely without the stand.

I purchased both of these from AmiAmi for ¥3800 which works out at around £20/$30 each. Good Smile Company plan on re-releasing him this October for those who missed out the first time.

You can pre-order him from AmiAmi, BigBadToyStore, Forbidden Planet or directly from Good Smile Company.
