gECCOS'S Red Pyramid Thing Review #SilentHill

10/27/2013

Picture
The Red Pyramid Thing statue from Toymunkey Studios and produced by Gecco is definitely a must for any Silent Hill fan.

Released alongside the Bubble Head Nurse, this statue is 1/6 scale and is so highly detailed it looks as if it has fallen right out of the game. There are currently two variants of this statue available. The first being the Red Pyramid Thing having a Lying Figure in his hands. This is the statue I managed to get my hands on and I am so happy I did. The other variant of this statue we see him holding a Mannequin figure. This variant was only available at this years ComicCon and for a short period of time via the Toymunkey Studios website.

When he arrived through my door the first thing I did was look at the box art. The box is covered in a mixture of deep red and black. The back of the box features artwork by Masahiro Ito. A large image of the Red Pyramid Head adorns the back with his blade directly in front of him. The front of the box features the 9 small square windows that mimic the 9 save points in the game and both sides of the box contains information about Silent Hill and the statue itself. Along with Artist profiles for Shinya Akao who sculpted the statue and Yoshinori Yatake who painted it.

Upon taking the statue out of the box I was surprised by how light it is. It doesn't weigh down and comes in two parts, the statue and the blade. The amount of detail put into this statue is phenomenal. His helmet appears to be worn and rusted. Even a small bullet like hole is present at the front. A bolt is also sticking out of the right hand side of his helmet and another at the back.
Underneath we can see that where you would expect his head to be is actually an abundance of billowing flesh, tightly packed under his helmet.

His clothing is worn and torn in several places. What appears to be aged blood stains are also present across his clothing. Just the amount of detail that has gone into his clothing is amazing. The creases and tears all add to how realistic this statue really is. The back of his clothing has two straps that disappear into the flesh under his helmet and directly down his spine is a zip.

His arms are muscular and dark, veins and what appear to be splits are all down them, right up to the dirty white gloves that cover his hands. Even the boots he wears have such detail added to them. A small zip is present on both with blood stains that shine in the light to give off the impression that the blood on his boots is still wet.

One of my all time favourite creatures from Silent Hill has to be the lying figure. There is something about a creature trapped in what appears to be a straight jacket and just happens to spit out an acid like substance that gets my attention.

The Lying Figure looks like its struggling in his hands, ready to be killed by the blade in his other hand. It's legs are covered in small splits and cracks that also contain a slight tint of red in places. It's face has a shiny split directly down the centre which travels down his chest, stopping right before it's waist. The thing I noticed while looking at this Lying Figure is the outline of its arms and chin and what appear to be breasts. So I assume the Lying Figure we have here is in fact female.

Going back to the Red Pyramid Thing and his blade that he has in his right hand. His blade looks old and worn but still highly dangerous. The blades edge even has a small amount of detail to it. When you first take him out of the box, the blade is separate and slots into the handle which is already in his hand.
As with the Bubble Head Nurse you also receive a small numbered card which is attached to the inside of the lid. This small card displays what number statue you have received. I received number 01786.

The Red Pyramid Thing statue is definitely impressive. The amount of detail that has gone into making such an amazing piece of art is incredible. Right from the tip of his helmet all the way down to the tiled base. Not a single bit of detail has been missed.

I purchased my Red Pyramid Thing statue from BigBadToyStore.com for $149.99.

If you are still yet to buy any of the Toymunkey figures make sure you definitely get your hands on this one!

A few new pieces of merchandise have appeared on the Gaya Entertainment website.
Although the cap has already made previous appearances at GamesCom and this years Games Expo this is the first time we have been able to see a stock photo. The cap has the famous 'Lakeside Amusement Park' slogan and will retail at €19.99.
The second is the blue wristband. As we already know the red wristband that accompanies the blue wristband in the photo is already available via game-legends.com. The blue wristband however is due to be released October 21st 2013 and will retail at the same price as the red one of €3.99.
As you can see the blue wristband has the words 'Welcome to Silent Hill' on the front and 'A friendly gift from your Silent Hill tourist office' on the inside.

I cannot wait to get my hands on both!

gecco's Red Bubble Head Nurse Review #SilentHill

10/6/2013

Picture
Gecco have created a Bubble Head Nurse variant that was exclusive to ComicCon this year. The Bubble Head Nurse is limited to 1500 pieces and was previously made available via their website. It has now sold out.

Luckily I managed to get my hands on one and although you may be thinking the only differences appear to be the red boots and facial features you are far from right!

Before I even took the nurse out of the box I could already see the differences this figure has to offer. The box for one comes with different artwork at the front. Once again the 9 small squares windows have been included however instead of a faded image of the Bubble Head Nurse upon a red background we see this time the nurse against what appears to be a decaying backdrop. Her red boots being the focal point of the front.

The box art also contains the same information that has been included with the original Bubble Head Nurse statue along with the image of the nurse standing proudly on the back. As you can see from the back of the box the Nurse also has her red boots. As I looked at both boxes I noticed the original nurse image on the back has her wearing white suspenders and boots but as we all know the original nurse statue did not come with boots at all. Maybe they changed this at the last minute?

The Red Bubble Head Nurse comes with quite a large number of differences. The most obvious being the long red boots that just about reach the bottom of her dress. They are a deep blood red colour and have been painted so perfectly that they almost look like they have been made with real leather.

The base she stands on is very similar to its original with the only real differences being the blood spots. Instead of their being bloody footprints, this time there is just general spots around her feet. The grate is also much more shiny and gives off the appearance of it being wet.

Her skin is much brighter than the original with less veins and much more colour. She has a paleness to her that almost looks as if her skin is real. Once again beautifully painted with no lack of detail. Even her dress appears to have deeper tears and extra detail. Her name badge appears to have a name on it this time that reads 'Sandrega'. Where this name originates from is a mystery as all searches I have conducted have revealed nothing.
The nurses face has quite a few differences. The first one being the obvious red ball like thing over her mouth. The folds of skin at either side of her face are much more defined and her neck is greeted by what appears to be some kind of choker. Her skin around her head is deeper in colour this time, giving the impression of her being chocked.

Unlike with the previous nurse release this time she comes with an additional head. At first I didn't think the head could actually be removed as it is tightly placed on top her head. Eventually it did come off and I managed to replace it with the additional head piece. This head also comes with the chocker around its neck but instead of the red ball across her mouth we can see a mouth and nose. Even the sunken areas of where the eyes should be are visible. With this additional head it adds a further variant to the line of Nurse's and actually makes me want to purchase one more nurse so I can have all three on display.
Once again she comes with additional hands so you can decide what hand she carries her steal pipe. The small card that is included with the original nurse is also included but this time isn't numbered. Instead where the individual number is, are the words 'Limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide'.

I am definitely impressed with the Red Bubble Head Nurse statue and would happily recommend it to anyone. If you already own the original nurse then you really should get this one too! I managed to get mine from amazon for £123. Bigbagtoystore.com already have them for pre-order at $149.99.

You can also purchase the Red Bubble Head Nurse from Game-Legends.com for € 189.98

This is definitely another great piece from Gecco and Toymunkey studios.

Early Demos for Silent Hill Ds and Book of Memories #SilentHill

10/6/2013

Picture
Wayforward have revealed technical demos for Silent Hill DS and Silent Hill: Book of Memories.
Silent Hill DS features the return of James Sunderland and takes elements from Silent Hill 2 to create a new game. Although this was never released I would love to see a Silent Hill game for the DS in the future. Preferably for the 3DS so I can see 3D fog and monsters! :D
The DS demo showcases a piano puzzle which once completed leads James into the Otherworld. Although a short demo it does open up the possibility of a game for the Nintendo DS.

The second demo is for the PS Vita only game Silent Hill: Book of Memories. This was presented to Konami to give them to right to create the game we have today!
You can view both demo's in the video below.
