P.T Has been datamined and its glorious

Just when you think the dust has settled on P.T, the teaser for what would have been Silent Hills, a fan has opened up a whole new can of worms and it's glorious!

On the 1st of December (2016) XeNTaX forum user: Luxox18 revealed that they had datamined P.T and revealed files that have never been seen before. As well as being able to make use of the files (which have already been used in MGSV) you can also see full models of Norman Redus, Lisa, the sink fetus and more.

Since discovering that P.T has been decrypted, users have gone crazy picking apart of the teaser to see what they can find.

Check out some of the images below and view more via the XeNTaX forum, Neogaf and Facepunch.

With P.T now being pulled apart, there really isn't much else it can show us. Surely after nearly 2 years it's time to put it to rest and say goodbye?

The end of P.T but maybe not the end of Silent Hills?

As we're all now sadly aware, Silent Hills is no more. It's gone, dead. P.T was removed from the Playstation Network on April 29th leaving those who had yet to download it little hope of ever playing that short, terrifying teaser game that got the world talking.

It was confirmed before it's removal that fans who added the game to their downloads list in their account would still be able to download the teaser at a later date from the PSN servers. This is no longer the case, only days later it was revealed that Sony have also now removed the game from their servers entirely and unless you have a license for the games use, you cannot and will not be able to download it.
So all of those fans still holding out to download it when they can sadly have to admit defeat and accept it's gone (sad times).

The official website for P.T has had all links, information and videos removed. A small notice stating the game is no longer available to download has been added to the site, which also thanks fans for their support.

One thing however sticks out for me in regards to the entire cancellation of this promising game. When Konami finally issued a statement about Silent Hills and announced it was indeed cancelled, they did also state that

"In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements"

From this tiny sentence comes a small glimmer of hope. Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro are still in talks for future projects but Norman Reedus is out. Although seeing a known face in a Silent Hill game was indeed different, i'm somewhat glad that he is no longer involved. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy, love him in The Walking Dead and I think the fact they chose him for Silent Hills only increased the amount of buzz this game received when it was first revealed. I just don't think a famous face in a game is a good idea, not with Silent Hill anyway.

The P.T website has also removed all images of Reedus from the site but not all images of Silent Hills. It would appears Konami are trying to bury this game under the carpet by removing P.T entirely but what if Silent Hills isn't quite over yet?

I say this because with the Silent Hills image still on the P.T website and also it would seem Kojima and Del Toro are still in discussions, it's possible Konami are not entirely removing this game from existence but possibly changing it around in a massive way. Why not just remove the site entirely as all it has on their now are around six images and nothing else? And why chuck away so much advertising and buzz that the Teaser has already created. They could easily re-use whatever they have currently worked on and adapt a new game from that with Kojima and co on board. It's a long shot but a possibility.

Who knows what Konami are up to at the moment as they seem a little bit up in the air with everything lately but for me i'm going to hold onto a new, potentially great Silent Hill game a little bit longer.

Silent Hills is dead but Silent Hill isn't.

Finally the silence has been broken on the fate of Silent Hills and unfortunately it's not good news.

As you're most likely now aware, yesterday (April 27th) a tweet from Photojournalist Matt Hackney who attended San Francisco Film Festival stated that Guillermo Del Toro is no longer working on Silent Hills via this tweet:

"It's not gonna happen and that breaks my greasy heart." -Guillermo del Toro on #SilentHills. #sfff #sffs #sffilmfest #fb

— TV's Matt Hackney (@tvsmatthackney) April 26, 2015
Not long after it was reported by IGN that this tweet had been misinterpretated and in fact the collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Del Toro was what wasn't going to happen.

Along with this actor Norman Redus later tweeted that he was "Super bummed" that Silent Hills was no longer happening.

Picture
Adding to the fact P.T is now being removed from the Playstation Network it really wasn't looking good and I for one was accepting Silent Hills was never to be. As of today Konami have finally spoken out about Silent Hills and have confirmed our worst fears.
A statement released to Kotaku.com confirms Silent Hills is indeed cancelled. Fortunately it's not all doom and gloom as they have stated that talks are currently underway with Del Toro and Kojima, there is just no more Redus in the picture.

Konami is committed to new Silent Hill titles, however the embryonic ‘Silent Hills’ project developed with Guillermo del Toro and featuring the likeness of Norman Reedus will not be continued.

In terms of Kojima and Del Toro being involved, discussions on future Silent Hill projects are currently underway, and please stay tuned for further announcements"

Konami are not giving up on Silent Hill yet which is great news and the fact it would appear Del Toro and Kojima are still somewhat in the picture is also good to hear. As to what we can expect now though is a total mystery and once again we will just have to play the waiting game.

RIP Silent Hills

Haven't played P.T yet and are bummed about it being removed? Alchemilla Hospital might have a solution for those of you who are still wanting to play it. Check out their possible solution right HERE

Has Silent Hills now been official cancelled?

As you should be well aware by now, the fate of Silent Hills has been on the line for quite some time. First Hideo Kojima was announced to be leaving Konami, now P.T is being removed from PSN (April 29th) and now at a panel discussion at San Francisco's Film Festival Guillermo Del Toro stated that Silent Hills isn't going to happen.

Photojournalist Matt Hackney who attended the event posted the below tweet to his twitter.

Konami hasn't yet made an official statement on this so there is that tiny glimmer of hope left that this might not be the case. However with all the news that has been circulating with Silent Hills lately, I think it's time to put it all to rest and accept the game isn't happening after all.

Silent Hill voice actress confirms Kojima was fired?

More news on the Hideo Kojima - Konami story has surfaced, this time from voice actress Donna Burke.

A tweet she posted stated Konami has actually fired Kojima. Twitter user @AaronDavidAshby replied asking if she could confirm what was just said and with that she did.

"yes but it's been in the media for weeks..but it's true"

Konami issued a statement to VideoGamer.com and stated this was not the case and that Burke's tweet was "Categorically incorrect"

Picture
The news editor for Gamespot posted that a source within Konami confirmed he has not been fired but is free to leave in December. This tweet was later removed due to a typo.

UPDATE (11.4.15)

Donna Burke has released a statement through her Facebook page correcting her previous tweet and stated that he was not fired after all. In the statement she mentions that she was "Trying to add my voice to Otsuka-san with the fans to not abondon MSGV because of the stuff happening at Konami". She ends the statement with an apology.

Unfortunately no news on the status of Silent Hills has been released yet.

Hideo Kojima Leaving Konami?  But what about Silent Hills?

3/19/2015

Earlier today, News broke that Hideo Kojima may be leaving/has already left Konami. It all started when Reddit users noticed that Kojima's name was no longer included in the Metal Gear Solid 5 artwork, on top of this any mention of Kojima Productions is no where to be seen.

Kojima Productions Los Angeles has also been renamed to Konami Los Angeles Studio as well as the Kojima Productions website and twitter account changing.

Nothing has yet been officially confirmed although Konami have made a rather weak statement on the matter;

"Konami Digital Entertainment, including Mr. Kojima, will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products," said the company in a statement to Eurogamer. "Please look forward to future announcements."

As you can see it's really not much to go on. IGN did manage manage to get a little more information from a Konami source;

"As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business. Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima), will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements.”

But once again it's still rather weak in terms of understanding the whole situtation. Kojima himself hasn't made any kind of statement although on his Twitter account last night he posted a MGS image with the caption "Heading Off".

Gamespot's inside source for the studio stated that;

“Once the Phantom Pain project is finished, in all likelihood the management at the studio will disband. After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December,"

It's all very up in the air at the moment and until an official statement on the full matter is revealed, it's hard to say what the future holds for Kojima Productions and Konami together as well as the forthcoming Silent Hills. Hopefully some good, clear news is revealed soon and we can calm ourselves down and be content with the knowing Silent Hills is going to be ok!

UPDATE

Videogamer managed to get an additional statement from Konami in regards to the matter:

"As we have already announced, we are shifting our production structure to a headquarters-controlled system, in order to establish a steadfast operating base capable of responding to the rapid market changes that surround our digital entertainment business," read the statement. "Konami Digital Entertainment (including Mr. Kojima), will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements."

Although once again it doesn't fully explain the situation.

Gamespot editor, Peter Brown posted via Twitter that:

"In regards to the Kojima Productions news and Silent Hills: that game is part of a deal between Del Toro and Konami, not Kojima"

Hopefully this means we have nothing to worry about in regards to Silent Hills, although from what we have seen so far from Kojima, i'm not sure it would necessarily be a good thing without him.

Update 2:

It appears the Kojima Productions logo has now been removed from the P.T website also. Although Konami have made an additional statement on the matter, it offered no insight into the future of Silent Hills.

New P.T Concept Teaser Revealed at Tokyo Game Show

9/18/2014

Picture
At Tokyo Game Show 2014, Hideo Kojima revealed a new video for P.T, this being in the form of a concept movie.

The short movie features creepy toys, severed bug filled heads, giant hands, blood and more! Similar to P.T but this time based in a school and not a house. This is evident from the very first door to the left that reads Mr's ? Class. There are also low pegs on the wall and artwork across the walls. When talking about the video itself Kojima stated that it was never planned to be released and it was made for internal use only. Maybe to show he can do horror?

Kojima also stated that he may release Silent Hills episodically. I'm not sure how I feel about this but if Silent Hills turns out to be anything like what we're already being treated to then I don't think ill mind upon release.

A pre-recorded video of Guillermo Del Toro was also presented at the show. In the video Del Toro talked about the initial ideas and concepts and also a little more about Silent Hills itself.

"We talked about concepts and tools at his headquarters in Tokyo," del Toro said. "Then he sent his first version of the playable teaser. I saw it loved it. We then... exchanged ideas and the result was the playable teaser you see now.

"The concepts we’re discussing, the ideas that we're discussing and the tools that are in play to create Silent Hills are going to render an incredibly intense and an incredibly scary game."
