Gecco's Blue and Pink Robbie the Rabbit statue Review #SilentHill

4/27/2014

In July of 2013 we were treated to the first look at a total of four new statues that Gecco were currently working on. The first of those four was released in January and that was of Heather Mason from Silent Hill 3. Along with Heather Mason Gecco also revealed a statue of Robbie the Rabbit also from Silent Hill 3.

Robbie was released in March of this year (2o14) and was released in three different variants. The first being the regular blood stained Pink Robbie, this Robbie is widely available and if you pre-ordered it from Amiami.com it also came with a small tin of Green Tea. The second variant was of a Blue Robbie and is initially exclusive to Mamegyorai in Japan, limited to 3000. The final variant was only available to Figure King Magazine in Japan. This variant of Robbie features different box art and the statue itself contains no blood at all. Bloodless Robbie is limited to only 300 pieces.

Fortunately for myself I have managed to get my hands on the Pink and Blue Robbie statues, with the bloodness version on its way also (mini review to follow upon arrival).

All three Robbie statues feature the same style box art but with additional added detail. The Pink Robbie features souvenir style packaging from Lakeside Amusement Park, with small amounts of blood and rust across the box. The Blue Robbie’s box art is much more bloody and dark, the entire front is rusted and decayed. The back of the boxes contain a large image of four Robbie’s in a bathtub, the only difference being that the Blue Robbie box features one Blue rabbit in the tub and the Pink Robbie’s box contain all Pink Rabbits. The sides of the box contain sculptor information and also additional info about the games and Robbie himself.

When you first open the box you can see that the tabs inside show instructions on how to put the included weapons into his hands. Included is a small sheet of clear plastic which you must wrap around the weapons before placing them into Robbie’s hand. This is to avoid the flocking being removed from his hands. The lid of the box also has a small card which contains the same image on the back of the box and information about the Sculptors and Robbie once again.

The cardboard insert that is also a backing for the statue features the map of Silent Hill. The Pink version has blood splatters across it with the Lakeside Amusement Park circled. The Blue version however is almost covered entire in blood and is barely view-able.
The statue itself is covered in flocking making him soft and fuzzy, this adds a more realistic feel to him being a soft toy or costume. He stands at approximately 34cm high and comes with a round base that is similar to the base that also comes with Heather. Unlike other releases from Gecco Robbie is also free standing so if you prefer you can keep Robbie off his base. I really like the amount of detail that has been put into making this statue. His face features blood stained cheeks and a shiny mouth and nose. His eyes are perfectly painted and have a glossy look which creates a small amount of innocence to this sinister bunny.

The colour of his bowtie will either be green or yellow dependant on which Robbie you own but both will be blood stained. The buttons on his overalls are gold and shiny and although Robbie has blood all over him, these are untouched. His overalls also have a zip at the back right above a small round fuzzy tail.
The chainsaw that is included also contains a large amount of detail. As you can see from the pictures it is also bloodstained and worn looking. The Chainsaw that is included with the Pink Robbie has the words "To you my dear" engraved across it. The Blue Robbie chainsaw has the words "Your Fingerpost". The lettering is actually carved into the blade and not printed onto it which I feel makes them stand out much more than if they were printed.
As with Heather and the Bubble Head Nurses, Robbie also comes with a steel pipe, but lets be honest, a chainsaw is much cooler right?
The weapons need to have plastic wrapped around them before placing them into Robbie's hand, this is to avoid the flocking from coming off. Although even with the plastic I found it difficult to place the weapons into his hand.
If you were lucky enough to pre-order Robbie from Amiami.com and paid a small amount more for him, your Robbie also came with a tin of Green Tea. The tin features Robbie the Rabbit artwork and contains information about the rabbit himself. Luckily the exclusive tea version appears back in stock every now and again so if you're after this version keep checking Amiami as you may be in luck.

I must admit that out of all the Silent Hill statues released by Gecco so far, the Robbie statues are by far my favorite. The amount of detail is outstanding and the adding flocking effect makes this statue a real must have for any fan. The initial Robbie statue design did have a more splattered blood effect across his face whereas the official release features a more symmetrical design and although there have been a few complaints because I this, I really do not mind his new look.
If you're still to purchase a Silent Hill statue this is definitely the one to buy to kick start your collection. After taking pictures for this review I ended up placing the Robbie's back into their boxes as they really do look great in or out of them.
If you're after your very own Robbie you can grab him from Amiami.com or for those of you outside of Japan, Robbie is due to be released worldwide May 2014. You can pre-order and get more information on where to purchase him from thefollowing distributors :

Diamond Comics Distributors Inc. (USA)
Kolektakon LLC (USA)
Abysse Corp (France)
Fantasiland (Italy)
HEO GmbH (Germany)
ILOVETOYZ, INC (Korea)
The Falcon's Hangar (Singapore)

gECCOS'S Red Pyramid Thing Review #SilentHill

The Red Pyramid Thing statue from Toymunkey Studios and produced by Gecco is definitely a must for any Silent Hill fan.

Released alongside the Bubble Head Nurse, this statue is 1/6 scale and is so highly detailed it looks as if it has fallen right out of the game. There are currently two variants of this statue available. The first being the Red Pyramid Thing having a Lying Figure in his hands. This is the statue I managed to get my hands on and I am so happy I did. The other variant of this statue we see him holding a Mannequin figure. This variant was only available at this years ComicCon and for a short period of time via the Toymunkey Studios website.

When he arrived through my door the first thing I did was look at the box art. The box is covered in a mixture of deep red and black. The back of the box features artwork by Masahiro Ito. A large image of the Red Pyramid Head adorns the back with his blade directly in front of him. The front of the box features the 9 small square windows that mimic the 9 save points in the game and both sides of the box contains information about Silent Hill and the statue itself. Along with Artist profiles for Shinya Akao who sculpted the statue and Yoshinori Yatake who painted it.

Upon taking the statue out of the box I was surprised by how light it is. It doesn't weigh down and comes in two parts, the statue and the blade. The amount of detail put into this statue is phenomenal. His helmet appears to be worn and rusted. Even a small bullet like hole is present at the front. A bolt is also sticking out of the right hand side of his helmet and another at the back.
Underneath we can see that where you would expect his head to be is actually an abundance of billowing flesh, tightly packed under his helmet.

His clothing is worn and torn in several places. What appears to be aged blood stains are also present across his clothing. Just the amount of detail that has gone into his clothing is amazing. The creases and tears all add to how realistic this statue really is. The back of his clothing has two straps that disappear into the flesh under his helmet and directly down his spine is a zip.

His arms are muscular and dark, veins and what appear to be splits are all down them, right up to the dirty white gloves that cover his hands. Even the boots he wears have such detail added to them. A small zip is present on both with blood stains that shine in the light to give off the impression that the blood on his boots is still wet.

One of my all time favourite creatures from Silent Hill has to be the lying figure. There is something about a creature trapped in what appears to be a straight jacket and just happens to spit out an acid like substance that gets my attention.

The Lying Figure looks like its struggling in his hands, ready to be killed by the blade in his other hand. It's legs are covered in small splits and cracks that also contain a slight tint of red in places. It's face has a shiny split directly down the centre which travels down his chest, stopping right before it's waist. The thing I noticed while looking at this Lying Figure is the outline of its arms and chin and what appear to be breasts. So I assume the Lying Figure we have here is in fact female.

Going back to the Red Pyramid Thing and his blade that he has in his right hand. His blade looks old and worn but still highly dangerous. The blades edge even has a small amount of detail to it. When you first take him out of the box, the blade is separate and slots into the handle which is already in his hand.
As with the Bubble Head Nurse you also receive a small numbered card which is attached to the inside of the lid. This small card displays what number statue you have received. I received number 01786.

The Red Pyramid Thing statue is definitely impressive. The amount of detail that has gone into making such an amazing piece of art is incredible. Right from the tip of his helmet all the way down to the tiled base. Not a single bit of detail has been missed.

I purchased my Red Pyramid Thing statue from BigBadToyStore.com for $149.99.

If you are still yet to buy any of the Toymunkey figures make sure you definitely get your hands on this one!
