Silent Hill 4: The Room follows the story of Henry Townshend who lives in 302 Ashfield Heights Apartments in South Ashfield which is not too far from the town of Silent Hill.
All is well until one day Henry wakes to find himself locked inside his apartment. The door is locked and chained up. His windows do not open and even when he bangs on either no one can hear him. The door cannot be open from the outside either.
Eventually a hole appears in the wall. When Henry climbs into it he is sent into the Madness of Walter Sullivan a mass murderer who murdered several of the tenants in the Ashfield Heights Apartment many years before.
When Henry returns back through the hole his health is replenished and he can store various items in a chest in his apartment. As he delves further into the hole and more into Walter's past his apartment becomes darker too. It no longer heals him and becomes more possessed.
The history of Walter Sulivan is a sad/dark one. He was born in the same apartment Henry now resides in. Not long after he was born his parents abandoned him, he was sent to the Wish House orphanage just outside of Silent Hill. He was forced into the ways of The Order and eventually started to believe that the very room Henry lives in was his mother. He believe that if he completed a ritual called the 21 sacraments it would waken his Mother and she would return to him. He killed 10 people before performing another ritual which to kill himself and make him sacrifice number 11! The ritual he performed allowed him to stay in his world and continue where he left off.

Twin VictimVoted by the fans of the Silent Hill Paradise facebook page as 'Silent Hill's Scariest Monster!'
The Twin Victim is created from the death of Miriam and Billy Locane. Both murdered by Walter Sullivan, they are joined at the head and walk on their hands. Twin Victim's eerily point towards Henry and then charge at him, they can also attack by swinging their large arms at him. BottomThe bottom is similar to the Twin Victim as just like them they also walk on their hands. Bottom's are stronger and faster but won't attack unless thei Victim is close enough.
Rubber face/Gum HeadThe rubber face come in two forms but both highly dangerous. Very similar to monkeys, they do attack in groups and can cause a large amount of damage. One to avoid if possible.
Wall manThe Wall man appear out of the walls and are similar to the Ghosts and The One Truth. The ghost's because of the way they also appear out of the walls however it would appear they cannot leave the wall. The attack by swinging their large arms. They can be avoided if you time Henry's run just right.
|
gHOSTSThe ghosts appear by climbing out of the walls. They are the Victims of Walter Sullivan and can harm Henry without even touching him. Ghosts cannot be killed due to the fact they are already dead. However they can be temporarily held back.
PatientThe Patient's are somewhat similar to the Nurses in previous Silent Hill games. They carry a large pipe in their hand which they use to attack their victims. Easily avoidable however they do cause a large amount of damage.
The one truthThe One Truth is a boss Henry encounters towards the end of the game. Although it would appear their are several of this boss in the same room only one of them is the true creature. Henry must figure out which one is the original and attack several times to not only kill but also escape the room he is in.
Sniffer dogSniffer Dogs are similar to the Groaners from the original Silent Hill and the Double Heads in Silent Hill 3. They attack by jumping at their victims and. The Sniffer Dogs have large tongues which they use to drain blood.
I love SH4: The Room because it broke away from the other games' structure as it invaded the one place Henry thought was safe, his own home" - Brandon Coupland |
Greedy Worms:
They appear to be no real threat to Henry and although they can be attacked the do not attack. One of the very few creatures in Silent Hill that poses no real threat. They do however appear to sharp teeth.
Toadstools:
Toadstools are easy to destroy and only cause a small amount of damage. They are tall and can be destroyed by either walking into them, although this also causes Henry damage or by simply striking them. They only seem to block Henry's path and offer no other real 'threat'
Tremer:
They appear to be slug like creatures. Although they offer no real threat and can be avoided they do cause damage. Usually best to avoid them although if a large amount appears hitting them with a weapon causes them to burst.
Mothbat:
Another creature that only causes a small amount of damage. They can attack in groups or on their own and are easily killed.
Conjurer:
The Conjurer is the final Boss in the game. The conjurer is Walters true form and although it is the final boss, isn't too hard to kill. Throughout the game Henry meets Walters ghost. Walter's ghost cannot be killed until the final boss is destroyed. Only once Henry has killed the Conjurer does Walter's ghost become mortal and finally Walter can be stopped and destroyed.
