A new Sakura Head Figure from Gecco is coming soon, along with a Mira Coin Bank.
During Konami's second Silent Hill transmission, not only were we treated to the release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake and a behind the scenes video of Return to Silent Hill, Konami also revealed heaps of new merchandise. A new Sakura Head Figure from Gecco is coming soon, along with a Mira Coin Bank. New merchandise from FanAttik includes coin replicas, keychains and pins. A new coaster and mousepad set was also revealed. And finally Konami Store released a new drop of Silent Hill merchandise, including a brand new Silent Hill 2 James Sunderson jacket.

Silent Hill was released in 1999 and has since gone on to spawn a whole series of games, 2 films, comics and a whole heap of other merchandise. I'm sure some of you will have some (if not all) of the games as well as a soundtrack or two? Maybe some comics or a poster on your wall? But how many of you can say they have original movie props, signed merchandise, your name in not one but two of the games and a World Record Holder title? For Whitney Chavis Silent Hill is so much more than just a game. Chavis has been collecting since the game was released and really got into around 2004, her first big collectable was the James and Nurse statue from Silent Hill 2 and since then she has been unstoppable. Her collection has grown so much over the years that she now holds the title for 'World Biggest Silent Hill Collection', with no end in sight to her ever growing collection (and love for Silent Hill) I interviewed her to find out more about what attracted her to the game, her most loved items and everything in between. Apart from the games what was the first piece of merchandise you can remember collecting? If I discount the soundtracks and guides as well my first collectible would be my Studio Oxmox Silent Hill 2 James and Nurse Statue. Finding this statue made me realize that that there was a variety of merchandise for the series available outside of the games, guides and soundtracks. This purchase is what inspired me to look for more and start a collection. What would you say is the most precious item in your collection and why? Ah man that’s a really hard choice for me to make! I’m really fond of the Silent Hill 2006 and Revelation movie props as well as my Heather with the custom base but I guess if had to pick just one item it would have to be my Japanese Silent Hill Retail Banner. I love the design and it was one of the first stand-out items I added to my collection... plus it's one of the few items that consistently comes to mind whenever I'm asked to name a favorite over the years...so I'll go with that! Obviously you’re a huge fan of Silent Hill but what is it about Silent Hill that got you hooked? I got into the series way back when the first game was released in 1999. My interest was piqued when I read a short preview of the game accompanied by a screenshot of Harry standing over a dead dog in a bloodied alley in one of my brother’s random game magazines. I was really into playing survival horror titles and since Silent Hill was referred to as a "Resident Evil clone" at the time it was a give in I would at least give the game a try. Once I actually played Silent Hill it became obvious to me that outside of play mechanics and being in the horror genre Silent Hill and Resident Evil were completely different experiences. After beating the game once I had so many questions left over that I knew replaying and getting all the endings was a must! Once I was done, the game’s unique music, atmosphere and stunning CGI still stuck with me months later and since then has been one of my most treasured and favored games. So I was hooked from day one pretty much and my passion for the series continued to build with each new installment! You’re also a huge fan of Deadly Premonition and collect merchandise for that too. Do you collect things for anything else? Ah... Deadly Premonition now there’s a game seriously lacking in some sweet, sweet official merchandise! (and to think I believed collecting for Silent Hill was hard all those years ago HAH!) I’m not actively collecting for anything else at the moment but I always end up with collections of varying sizes for media I really like. For example, I’m a big Superman fan so I have a bunch of stuff - movies, comics, figures, etc for him. I also have a weakness for dolls and action figures from my favorite shows, games and movies so I have a quite a collection in that regard ranging from imported anime dolls from the 90’s, high end Hot Toys action figures, to collector Barbies and Funko Pops...though Silent Hill is definitely my largest and most active collection by far. You run a hugely popular website and Facebook page for Silent Hill as well as an additional site and page for just your collection. Did you ever imagine them to be as big as they are? and what made you decide to set those up? No way! I started silenthillcollection.com as a way to help me keep track of what I have but also as a resource for others to see just what kind of cool stuff there is for Silent Hill out there. When I published my first two collection videos on youtube years ago there were comments from people wishing to see more shots of an item or wanting to know where I purchased it so it seemed like making a website with more information to reference was just the next logical step. I knew there were people really into collecting for the series so I created the FB collector group as a fun way to share finds and make trades with others. Honestly, I’m amazed at how many people have joined over the years. I had no idea there were so many fellow SH collectors out there! My “main” Silent Hill site, Silent Hill Historical Society, actually began as a site dedicated just to Shattered Memories formerly called “Always on my Mind” back in August 2009. The original 1999 game has always been my favorite installment so I was super excited about the re-imagining when it was announced in April that year. With the game’s original October release date fast approaching I was surprised that there wasn’t already a site dedicated to the game already. Sure all the websites dedicated to the entire Silent Hill series had some of the big news and screens but there was nothing like the fan run silenthillorigins.com or silenthill5.net which, in anticipation of Silent Hill Origins’ and Silent Hill Homecoming’s releases, were a central hub for the latest news, game information and screens. I figured since I was already scouring the web for any new information anyway why don’t I compile it all and take a stab at making my own fan site? Then when Downpour was announced at e3 2010 I decided to expand the site to include Downpour news since I had so much fun gathering news on Shattered Memories. So I changed the name to "Silent Hill Historical Society", made a new layout, started a FB page and a general Silent Hill podcast and things just took off exponentially from there. I never really expected SHHS become anything more than a small space for me to gush about my excitement over dumb upcoming Silent Hill things so for it to be considered one of the ‘big” SH sites out there is pretty fucking amazing...especially when there’s frankly better and more complete Silent Hill resource sites out there. It’s been a blast sharing all the excitement (and the disappointments) these past 6 years I’m truly grateful to everyone who has paid it a visit. ...I just wish we all still had a new installment to look forward to :( You’ve conducted quite a number of interviews, podcasts and reviews over the years. Out of all of these which one stands out the most for you and why? Definitely my podcast interview with Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington and director Michael J. Bassett. It was pretty surreal to get an (skype) interview with actual movie stars and a director! I was super nervous and was rather worried my questions would be lame given that I hadn’t seen the movie yet. Given that I live in California and they were all in New York for Comic Con when the actual interview happened 6:30am my time so recording a podcast that early was certainly a first. I was really worried I would sound groggy lol. Luckily I didn’t sound too bad plus they were all super nice even if I rambled a bit! Being a World Record Holder is impressive and an amazing achievement. Did you set a goal towards this or was it more of a ‘I’ll apply and see what happens’ kind of thing? It was more of a what that hell let’s try and apply kind of thing. My friends would often state that I probably had the largest Silent Hill collection in the world. I didn't really think that was possible given how many other fans I know, yourself included, who are also passionate about collecting items for the series but thought it would be fun to see if such a record was ever attempted. I knew there were other series specific collections on record in the past like Pikabellachu's famous Pokemon/Pikachu collection world record in 2009 so I knew it could be possible. The big question was would mine, which was only in the hundreds and not thousands, even be considered worthy? So I checked out the Guinness World Record website and looked to see what sort of collections they had on record and I saw that a few records actually had hundreds of items like Rob Hull's collection of Daleks (571) record set in 2011 and thought hey maybe my collection may actually have a chance. I applied on the Guinness site for a "Largest Silent Hill Collection" category in January (shortly after I put my December 2013 collection video on youtube) and a week later I received a response saying they couldn't accept my proposed category and told me to try for the "Largest collection of videogame memorabilia" instead...which I knew I couldn't come close to given it was over 8 thousand items! I figured that I would try again when my collection was closer to a thousand but to my surprise months later a representative from Guinness emailed and said they were interested in adding a new category for "Silent Hill only" and wanted to review my claim again. Not sure what changed their mind but shortly thereafter I was declared a world record holder! It was a pretty exciting experience! I know there's bigger and more interesting world records out there but it's amazing Guinness thought my collection was worthy to record! Your collection is constantly growing, where do you store it all?
Luckily for me most of my collection is made up of small items so I can fit 90% of it in plastic bins in my closet. When I get a bigger place with a spare room I would love to display everything but at the moment the only time everything is out is strictly limited to when I want to make a video or take pictures showing my entire collection. Over the years you’ve managed to add so many amazing additions to your collection but surely you’ve also missed out on a few as well? Oh yes loads of times! So. Many. Times. One big missed item is the Silent Hill Cold Heart pitch document that resides in your kick ass collection! Shortly after scans of the document appeared online on Silent Hill Memories back in December 2014 the original owner reached out to me via facebook to see if I was interested in purchasing it. Well back then Facebook neglected to alert you if you have messages from people you aren’t friends with in your “other” folder so I didn’t see the offer for 4 days. By the time I saw the message and got back to the seller he had already sold it to you. It kills me how close I was to owning that document but hey at least it went to a friend’s awesome collection in the end :) The Silent Hill Collectors group on Facebook is hugely popular and it’s seen so many new collectors showing off their collections, Can you offer any advice for anyone who wants to start their own? To find rare and unique Silent Hill items be sure to check auction sites often! Most of my own collection was acquired through Ebay. Another great place to look is Yahoo Japan Auctions, it can be pricey since you’ll have to go through a third party like Rinkya.com which involves fees upon fees but it’s a great way to find many rare Japanese items! Also try and talk with other Silent Hill collectors and see if any are interested in trading or selling items as well. It’s one of reasons the collector group is around afterall! I’ve made a lot of great acquisitions for my own collection by just asking! It never hurts to try :) Most importantly: have fun collecting! It doesn’t matter if you only have the games, it is still a worthy collection to share. No matter how big someone else’s may be now just know it didn’t grow that way overnight... we all started with a single item afterall. :D Out of everything in your collection, what was the hardest thing to get hold of? Definitely the retailer incentive edition of Silent Hill: Dead/Alive #1. This particular comic has cover artwork by Loïc Zimmermann and is the rarest single issue of any of the Silent Hill comics printed to date. According to Chris Ryall Chief Creative Officer and Editor-in-Chief of IDW Publishing this particular series didn't have huge orders so not many of these covers were shipped. I found how rare it was myself trying to track one down for my collection after I contacted over 100 comic shops across the world with no luck. Most of the shops either didn't order enough to receive an incentive cover from IDW and those that did only managed to score one and sold it years before my search started. I really thought I would never find this particular issue but some friends of mine somehow found a copy and surprised me with it. I was so thrilled to check it off my want list! And finally a few questions just for fun: Who is your favourite Silent Hill character and why? Heather. She’s a sassy badass. Favourite Silent Hill game? All about the original baby as it is the one that hooked me from day one! (BTW Silent Hill 2 is my next favourite followed by Downpour!) And finally describe Silent Hill in 140 characters or less. Your vacation destination for lost family, bizarre cults, & facing your inner demons w/ a 100% chance of fog and a 98% chance of death. ___ Why not check out Silent Hill Historical Society on Facebook and Whitney's Website. You can also see more pictures of her collection as well as more details for each item via her Collection Site and Facebook Page. A collector yourself? Join the collectors group too. Gecco Corp have revealed that a new Silent Hill statue is finally on the way! Although it isn't exactly 'new' it is a first for Robbie the Rabbit. A new green variant statue of Robbie the Rabbit is due to be released in 2016 and will be priced at $150. There are already a total of 3 variants of this statue available (Bloody Blue, Bloody Pink and a clean souvenir version) making this the 4th Robbie variant to be released by Gecco Corp. One thing that instantly stands out for me is the shade of green he is. This particular variant is taken from the Usagi short film from The Art of Silent Hill Dvd. Green Robbie only appears briefly and appears to lighter in colour. This statue will be distributed worldwide via D4TOYS and will be 1/6 in scale. Once again he will be flocked and will also come with a Chainsaw and gold pipe (another first). The chainsaw also has the words 'Together we are one' inscribed into the side. As Robbie also appears in Yellow and Purple, I wonder if we will see additional colours in the future. You can pre-order him from D4Toys. Will you be pre-ordering Green Robbie? Additional images taken from Mamegyorai Blog In November 2014 Medicom Toy revealed that a Robbie the Rabbit figure was in the works and would be released in July 2015 as part of their Real Action Heroes range. Unlike previously released Robbie merchandise, this Robbie figure would be posable. Gecco have already released three Robbie statues as well as Gaya Entertainments Robbie plush doll, so a posable figure is a great addition to any Silent Hill collection. Robbie comes in a large display box which features various images of the figure in different poses on all sides. The front opens up to reveal additional images and a window which allows you to see directly into the box without taking him out. He comes with an additional pair of hands, a chainsaw, a steel pipe and a clear stand for the figure to stand on. When first opening the box, the tab has the words "Your Fingerpost from Lakeside Amusement Park". The tab, as well as the inside of the box is bright orange. Robbie stands at around 300mm tall and is completely flocked all over. He has dark brown dungarees and a fabric green bow tie. His clothing has blood all down it as well as around his mouth. Little things I particularly like are the gold buttons on his dungarees and the tiny zip at the back. The blood splatter on his clothing and face is much more random than with the Gecco statue which appears much more symmetrical, although it's darker in colour. One thing that kind of bugs me about the blood around his mouth is that it continues into his mouth as well which for me makes it seem like it was just thrown on without actually avoiding the inside of his mouth. The flocking is also dirty in colour across various parts of his body, this includes his arms feet and head. At first I thought this was due to poor production and I had actually received a rather dirty item but after comments from other owners it would appear this is the case for all figures. AmiAmi did mention this in their review but it doesn't seem to be mentioned by Medicom Toy themselves which may be something that puts people off buying this. The hands that are already attached to Robbie are able to carry the steel pipe and chainsaw via the top handle. The additional set of hands are much wider, which allows better grip on the chainsaw when trying to have Robbie hold it via the handle at the back. His arms bend and can be moved up and down, so you can have Robbie in various poses. His legs do also move but not as much as the arms. He is able to stand without support but if you're looking for a more unusual pose, the clear stand holds him up perfectly. I noticed that when attaching him to the stand that his belly is also soft and squishy. When comparing this figure to Gecco's statues, I have to admit that the quality of Gecco's Robbie is much higher. It's cleaner looking and also appears that they put much more care and effort into it. Medicom Toy's Robbie is a fantastic addition to any Silent Hill collection and being posable is a huge selling point for me but in terms of quality it's less than I thought it would be.
I understand that the overall look was to appear more old and worn and to give off a look that seems like he's been lying around for quite some time now. Which in reality would be the case if you stumbled into Lakeside Amusement Park but with this costing more that Gecco's products, I expected a little bit more. A positive to his dirty look is that I don't think I would be as worried about him getting dirty if I had him out on display. Flocked items are hard to clean which wouldn't be so much of a problem with this. This years Wonder Festival 2015 finally revealed the upcoming Silent Hill 2 Bubble Head Nurse figma figure. Although it's not yet completed the images released show a pair of nurses standing together while one holds onto the famous steel pipe. The Figma's are taller and skinnier than I thought they would be but I really like the look of the dresses and face/head so far. I'm hoping the final design will look great overall. No release date or price has been revealed for these yet however I assume they would be around the same price as the forthcoming Red Pyramid Thing Figma that is also due for release in April. What do you think of the Bubble Head Nurse Figma? Let me know in the comments below. Sources: Image 1 and 2, Image 3
This week I revealed early designs for a Silent Hill Paradise T shirt. I am currently working on a single design, which has already gone into production and will be received shortly. If the print comes out how I'm hoping it will, I will be ordering more of these and they will be available around the start of January. The current design features the new style Paradise Logo with the website address underneath. I will only have a select number of these available so they will be Limited Edition. If you would like one of these T shirt's let me know in the comments below and I might just select one to receive a T shirt for free. Would you like to own your very own Paradise T shirt? Or see additional designs? If you would like one of these T shirts please fill in your name, email and in the comments section tell me what size you would prefer. This is just to get an idea of numbers and level of interest if I were to order more.
According to magazine scans I stumbled across on EstatuasLimitedEdition.com it looks like Figma's Red Pyramid Thing is due for release in April 2015. As you can see from the scans RPT looks fully possible and also comes with a spear, great knife and additional hands. He is also 20cm tall. Red Pyramid Thing figure includes: - Main figure - Base - Spear - Additional Hand parts - Head part for recreating scenes from the game The magazine scan does show an image of a Bubble Head nurse but no release date is shown and the only real information is that she will be 20cm tall. There has been no other news or even pictures of the Bubble Head Nurse figure that is also due to be released in the near future. You can pre-order your very own Figma Red Pyramid Thing from these links: Amiami priced at 3800 Yen Big Bad Toy Storepriced at $59.99 Hobby Link Japan priced at 4222 Yen Forbidden Planet priced at £54.99 Please note release dates may differ dependent on country release. Will you be picking up a Red Pyramid Thing? In July of 2013 we were treated to the first look at a total of four new statues that Gecco were currently working on. The first of those four was released in January and that was of Heather Mason from Silent Hill 3. Along with Heather Mason Gecco also revealed a statue of Robbie the Rabbit also from Silent Hill 3. Robbie was released in March of this year (2o14) and was released in three different variants. The first being the regular blood stained Pink Robbie, this Robbie is widely available and if you pre-ordered it from Amiami.com it also came with a small tin of Green Tea. The second variant was of a Blue Robbie and is initially exclusive to Mamegyorai in Japan, limited to 3000. The final variant was only available to Figure King Magazine in Japan. This variant of Robbie features different box art and the statue itself contains no blood at all. Bloodless Robbie is limited to only 300 pieces. Fortunately for myself I have managed to get my hands on the Pink and Blue Robbie statues, with the bloodness version on its way also (mini review to follow upon arrival). All three Robbie statues feature the same style box art but with additional added detail. The Pink Robbie features souvenir style packaging from Lakeside Amusement Park, with small amounts of blood and rust across the box. The Blue Robbie’s box art is much more bloody and dark, the entire front is rusted and decayed. The back of the boxes contain a large image of four Robbie’s in a bathtub, the only difference being that the Blue Robbie box features one Blue rabbit in the tub and the Pink Robbie’s box contain all Pink Rabbits. The sides of the box contain sculptor information and also additional info about the games and Robbie himself. When you first open the box you can see that the tabs inside show instructions on how to put the included weapons into his hands. Included is a small sheet of clear plastic which you must wrap around the weapons before placing them into Robbie’s hand. This is to avoid the flocking being removed from his hands. The lid of the box also has a small card which contains the same image on the back of the box and information about the Sculptors and Robbie once again. The cardboard insert that is also a backing for the statue features the map of Silent Hill. The Pink version has blood splatters across it with the Lakeside Amusement Park circled. The Blue version however is almost covered entire in blood and is barely view-able. The statue itself is covered in flocking making him soft and fuzzy, this adds a more realistic feel to him being a soft toy or costume. He stands at approximately 34cm high and comes with a round base that is similar to the base that also comes with Heather. Unlike other releases from Gecco Robbie is also free standing so if you prefer you can keep Robbie off his base. I really like the amount of detail that has been put into making this statue. His face features blood stained cheeks and a shiny mouth and nose. His eyes are perfectly painted and have a glossy look which creates a small amount of innocence to this sinister bunny. The colour of his bowtie will either be green or yellow dependant on which Robbie you own but both will be blood stained. The buttons on his overalls are gold and shiny and although Robbie has blood all over him, these are untouched. His overalls also have a zip at the back right above a small round fuzzy tail. The chainsaw that is included also contains a large amount of detail. As you can see from the pictures it is also bloodstained and worn looking. The Chainsaw that is included with the Pink Robbie has the words "To you my dear" engraved across it. The Blue Robbie chainsaw has the words "Your Fingerpost". The lettering is actually carved into the blade and not printed onto it which I feel makes them stand out much more than if they were printed. As with Heather and the Bubble Head Nurses, Robbie also comes with a steel pipe, but lets be honest, a chainsaw is much cooler right? The weapons need to have plastic wrapped around them before placing them into Robbie's hand, this is to avoid the flocking from coming off. Although even with the plastic I found it difficult to place the weapons into his hand. If you were lucky enough to pre-order Robbie from Amiami.com and paid a small amount more for him, your Robbie also came with a tin of Green Tea. The tin features Robbie the Rabbit artwork and contains information about the rabbit himself. Luckily the exclusive tea version appears back in stock every now and again so if you're after this version keep checking Amiami as you may be in luck. I must admit that out of all the Silent Hill statues released by Gecco so far, the Robbie statues are by far my favorite. The amount of detail is outstanding and the adding flocking effect makes this statue a real must have for any fan. The initial Robbie statue design did have a more splattered blood effect across his face whereas the official release features a more symmetrical design and although there have been a few complaints because I this, I really do not mind his new look. If you're still to purchase a Silent Hill statue this is definitely the one to buy to kick start your collection. After taking pictures for this review I ended up placing the Robbie's back into their boxes as they really do look great in or out of them. If you're after your very own Robbie you can grab him from Amiami.com or for those of you outside of Japan, Robbie is due to be released worldwide May 2014. You can pre-order and get more information on where to purchase him from thefollowing distributors :

Mamegyorai and revealed photographs of the finalized Robbie the Rabbit statues. As you can see the boxes look amazing and I cannot wait to get my hands on both of these (and the souvenir version if I can get it). The Pink blood stained Robbie features rusty, blood stained art that looks like a souvenir style product. The Blue Robbie is much similar however the blood and rust are much more present. Gecco's Robbie the Rabbit is released in Japan this month, although it appears to be sold out everywhere. For those wanting to get your hands on either of them (or both) you can order them from: Diamond Comics Distributors Inc. (USA) Kolektakon LLC (USA) Abysse Corp (France) Fantasiland (Italy) HEO GmbH (Germany) ILOVETOYZ, INC (Korea) The Falcon's Hangar (Singapore) Please note release dates for orders outside of Japan vary with the majority beginning in May and some pre-orders may already be sold out.
