This week I was fortunate to be able to see a 'Work in progress' first look at the short film and I have to admit I was not disappointed at all. ZenithFilms have been releasing quite a few posters and details to promote this film and just from the very first poster that was released I was excited to see this film.
This is one Silent Hill fan film that you should be extremely excited about as it is like no other and here's why:
Heather;
One thing we can all agree on is that Heather is one of the greatest protagonists to grace any of the Silent Hill games and so to see her return for even more action is a real treat.
Visuals;
Requiem is visually stunning. The entire film is dark and eerie, which is pretty much perfect for any Silent Hill film. Unlike other fan films, this one has a unique look and appearance which is evident from the posters as well. Even the camera angles are hauntingly similar to those in the game.
Easter Eggs;
One of the things that I really liked from seeing this film is the number of Easter Eggs. Right from the very beginning we are treated to a small hint at Silent Hill 4 and they don't stop there.
Della Day;
Day is perfect as Heather. She really does pull her off perfectly. Need I say more?
Music;
Silent Hill Requiem features music that all Silent Hill fans will recognise. No original pieces here, this is one film that is Silent Hill through and through.
Surprises;
With the images and posters that had been released on line I assumed Requiem was going to be a short film about Heather and a fight with a nurse. I was totally wrong, this film contains a hell of a lot more than that.
Fans;
The great thing about this film is that Gareth has teamed up with so many different Silent Hill fan Facebook pages and websites to help promote this film. The film has been made by fans for the fans and it really is 'One for the fans'. It is evident that a lot of love and time have gone into making this film and it really is an amazing piece of work.
Posters;
Zenith Films has released quite a number of posters for Silent Hill Requiem. The posters alone are a work of art and would look great on anyone's wall. Hopefully one day we see them outside a cinema!
Replay;
You won't be able to watch this film just once. As soon as I had seen it I had to watch it again and I have only seen a work in progress! The final cut is going to have a hell of a lot of replays.
It's not over;
The release of Silent Hill Requiem is not yet finalised however plans for a kickstarter campaign are already in the works. If Requiem does well (which I know it will) a full length film will hopefully happen too. By the end of SHR I wanted more, no, I NEEDED more, so this needs to happen!
Silent Hill Requiem is due to be released sometime early in 2014 and it is definitely one you should look out for. Requiem is a very unique film that is surely going to make any Silent Hill fan very happy indeed!
